Love’s Table

“Sit your butt down at Love’s Table”

Dr. Yemaja Jubilee performed this piece at Unity of Bon Air church, Richmond Va, about a year ago. It was performed with a type of call and response, being punctuated by musical riffs played by saxophonist Leon Crawley. The title itself lends a sense of familiarity to the audience, as they’re being invited just as they are to “love’s table”. Just the visual of this piece inspired me to create a Fabric Collage called “love’s table”. It’s welcoming, bountiful, inclusive, it’s not judgmental or restrictive. “Love’s Table” mirrors that of the love verses found in 1st Corinthians. Yemaja’s piece embodies this and makes the listener long for such a table. It instills hope that this can and does happen.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Lyrics by Dr. Yemaja Jubilee. It began as a song sung over the telephone in the Summer of 2022. Dr. Yemaja Jubilee had an idea for a holiday song and she needed to share it immediately. She shared the idea with Martha High’s producer, Michael Edell, to see if he liked it. He loved it. The rest is history.

Martha High recorded Dr. Jubilee’s song, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, for Martha’s Christmas album. It was released December 1, 2022 as an uplifting and heartwarming celebration of love, unity, and the joy of togetherness. Through its lyrics, the song redefines the traditional idea of the holiday season by emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and shared humanity. It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year is available on all major streaming platforms and can be downloaded on Martha High’s album, The Magic of Christmas.
